Food Storage – Onions, Potatoes, Garlic

Food Storage

There are some foods that should not be stored in the refrigerator. Onions, Potatoes, and Garlic are the most common foods we keep in the house. However, we do not have a lot of counter space to keep these foods out, and we do not have a pantry. We do however have a decent size drawer.

So, we bought some wood crates in various sizes that would act as food storage bins in our drawer. We got ours at Walmart here.

Now we have everything off the counter and each item has its place. It’s easy to see what I have and grab when I need to.

Nice tip. I didn’t realize onions shouldn’t be refrigerated. No drawer space but do have a deep base corner cabinet that I could rearrange for some baskets. This would also give me room back in the fridge.

My question is – what if one doesn’t have big drawers? I live in the typical NYC apartment…..and my kitchen drawers are not that big or that deep

This could work in a cabinet as well, get stack-able crates if needed. Or cute baskets for on the counter depending on the space you have.
